Drunk

Have you guys heard of this new social media video app- Periscope?  It is all the rage right now, for two reasons.  One, it’s broadcast live, and two, you can interact with your viewers because they can leave comments and you can respond right there.  Well, I am not much of a video girl, but I was curious, so I signed up.  It is linked to Twitter, but you can just use a phone number to register, and it works for both iphone and Android, so that’s good. I’m on there under my name- Rebecca Weld, but I also pop up right away if you search The Cookie Architect.

Anita at Sweet Hope Cookies, and Sugarbelle, and Hillary the Cookie Countess and loads others are all on there, and let me tell you, they have the right idea.  Because they are all showing off their cookie skills, or hooking up their phones to tripod thingies and general behaving themselves and helping cookie kind.

Not me.  I saw what Periscope was like and I was only inspired to do one thing with it.  Tune in on the weekend when I’d have an extra glass of wine (or two) and talk cookie with people, while drunk.  Well, maybe really just tipsy.  Somewhere in the tipsy to drunk area, depending on the broadcast.

To prepare I watched a few episodes of Drunk History, the TV show on The Comedy Channel.  Hi-larious.  But I saw right away that that would not be what it would be like with Drunk Cookier.  Because those narrators get hammered.  I mean, they vomit.  And slur and fall down.  I may get silly or forgetful, but I can promise you one thing.  No vomiting.

So, all that said, I’ve only done it three times.  And really, I can’t say how many times more I will do it, or at least, how often.  Because I don’t actually drink all the time, even though I talk a good wine game.  This weekend, for example, I am taking the boys camping, so…not then.  The next weekend I’ll be at my in-laws on Nantucket.  So….Definitely then!!!

The last few times I showed some cookies I was working on.  One time I even painted cookies drunk and one handed.  I’m not going to lie, I was proud.  And for all who tuned in to my last broadcast, I think I know why it was all pixelated,  so hopefully it will be better next time!

I’m coming in to a cookie dry spell for a while, with lots of “work” to do.  But I have an idea for my next broadcast to talk about my cookie-ing addiction.  Also, I have a whole rant/theory about Facebook to share with you guys.  So stay tuned!  And if I have any drunk epiphanies, maybe I’ll share a thought or two here.  So let me know, cookie-ing addiction. Do you have it? Do you want to hear my cookie confessionals? Should I just sober on up and stick to the cookie pics?

Speaking of which- I’ll leave you with a picture of the wafer paper bird cookies that I made during my drunk Friday night broadcast a few weeks ago!  You can see them all in detail in my cookie gallery!
